Time Out

We have graduated from Baby to Little Boy.

Door knob covers have been purchased and a gate has gone up to prevent entrance to the hallway. Cooking has become almost impossible do to extreme curiosity.  He wants to know about EVERYTHING that is going on.

Thus the introduction of Time Out.

Time Out is a little place on the floor behind the couch. Little Boy has to sit there sometimes because he can't control himself.

I wasn't sure that a 15-month-old could grasp the concept very well when I instituted the new policy.  But I needed some kind of discipline technique because "NO," "DON'T TOUCH," and "STOP PULLING THE DOG'S TAIL!" wasn't working all the time.

However, my doubts were assuaged the other day when Little Boy wouldn't keep his Legos or his passy out of the dog water bowl.  I told him "NO, NO, NO!" several times, and when this didn't work, I sternly started marching towards him.

Little Boy quickly dropped everything, ran over to the little piece of floor behind the couch, and put his bottom right on it.

I was totally shocked.  And thrilled that my discipline technique was actually working.

So I went over to him and went through routine of asking him if he was sorry, and then telling him Mommy loves him, and are you ready for a hug?

He then pouted his lips, stuck out his index finger, and said, "NO, NO, NO!

Guess there is still some work to do.
